Sound Healing is a form of Vibrational Medicine and is based on the scientific principles that all matter, and most importantly, the cells in your body, vibrate to a precise frequency when healthy and to a dissonant frequency when in dis-ease. Resonant vibration, rhythms and tones can balance brain hemispheres, stress levels, and even tension in body tissues and cells that have fallen into dis-ease or dis-harmony. The use of tuned, deep-vibration instruments can balance these dissonant frequencies and bring them back into harmony.
Scientific studies show that sound can produce changes in the autonomic, immune, endocrine and neuropeptide systems. Every atom, molecule, cell, gland, and organ of the human body absorbs and emits sound. The entire body, as well as our brain waves in a relaxed state, vibrates at a fundamental frequency of about 8 cycles per second, literally entraining and attuning us to the basic electromagnetic field of the earth itself!
We all are made of the same basic elements, and we all have almost identical genetic patterns. This is true at the vibrational level as well; we all resonate at the twelve tones, but each of us creates our symphony of tones in a different way than anyone else on the planet. And each of us will use one primary note as the tone that we harmonize all other tones around.
Sound healing is one of the oldest forms of healing known to mankind and has been used the world over to invoke, attune, and transform Consciousness.
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being,
then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies.
Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic being“
Dr Mitchell Gaynor
Many spiritual traditions speak of sound as being the formative force of creation. Recent studies point to sound as having reigned supreme as the prime organizing force of all matter, especially during the first million years of creation.
Everything that moves vibrates, from the smallest molecule to the universe itself. As long as it is vibrating, it is making some kind of sound. We may not perceive the sound, as it may be below or above the threshold of our hearing. The human ear can hear sound vibrations between 20 and 20,000 cycles per second, although we also perceive sound by skin and bone conduction, ingesting and consuming it with the whole body.
Many cultures and religions revere sound so deeply as to believe it called the universe into being. For the Hindus, all was dark and quiet in the universe, until the first movement in the universe created the sound "AUM". It is the mother tone, containing the frequencies of all other sounds.
Although invisible, sound is actually highly structured. In water it acts to form ‘micro-sonic scaffolding’, a struc- turing process that causes matter to coalesce in an orderly manner. It is believed it was this dynamic, sonic mechanism that sparked life. Sound and life, it seems, are inextricably linked.
All matter generates vibrational, electromagnetic energy: waves of measurable photons, or light energy. These photons are emitted on a molecular level as the electrons within atoms absorb and release energy. (Where does this energy originate? That’s the big mystery, contained in Einstein’s theory of relativity – stati form, living or not living, creates measurable electromagnetic vibrations made of moving light waves, originating at the atomic level. Within larger life forms like humans, each organ or tissue layer has its own signature vibration, and the organism as a whole has a signature vibration as well. (Illness appears as a change in frequency in the human body, or in a particular organ.)
If we are able to shift our perspective, we can change our relationship to the issue that may be preventing us from experiencing our optimal homeostasis. Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. These energetic blockage areas can be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both.
The physical body is where we experience localized pain and discomfort. Using tuning forks, especially osteophonic tuning forks (they vibrate at lower frequencies), we can stimulate the release of Nitric Oxide, a free radical molecule that has been proven to positively affect pain transmission and control. Which, in short, means that these frequencies help to create a physiological reaction, while the sound itself helps to influence our auditory system, enabling us to modify our relationship to the pain.
Our "subtle body" is our energetic body. This body is where our life force energy exists, commonly referred to as Qi, Chi or prana. In Chinese medicine, meridian points are used to pinpoint areas that have restricted energetic flow to our physical and subtle bodies. The body is known to have thousands of these meridian lines that are mapped out through the body, in the same way we've mapped out the latitude and longitude of the earth.
The subtle body holds imbalances and traumas that can eventually manifest in our physical bodies, which is why it's important to look at healing and balance not only from a physical perspective, but as a complete holistic experience that includes mind, body and spirit.
«If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.»
